Bear River Soccer
Hi family! Congrats to Sam on the mission, he'll do awesome. So an update on the high school soccer team, we just had our first round play off game, at home and beat Desert Hills (that's right St. George Wilcox's) :) haha The score was 4-2. Kaitlyn had an amazing goal and the whole team was outstanding. We are now headed to Delta to beat them and get into the semi-finals. Kaitlyn is ranked 6th in the state for the most goals scored which is awesome! I love coaching and my dad has always been the best motivator ever. It will be fun with Whitney on the team, if she makes it next year making 4 Wilcox's on one team! Jessica congrats... we are so excited for you! :)

Rise and Shout!
Jessica and J.D. both graduated from BYU this weekend. Jessica will stay in SLC and is interviewing for a new job. J.D. and Becky are applying to medical schools all over the country and won't know until a few months down the road where they will go. In the mean time they will stay in Provo and work at the Neuro-Science Lab at BYU until next fall.. . We really enjoyed going up for their graduation. It's nice and cool up north!!!

GREETINGS from ALASKA!
We thought we had better contribute to this blog since it was so fun to read and look at. We're having another busy summer that's going by way too fast, but life seems to be that way! Hope you enjoy a few pictures of our lives to catch you up on the Alaska Wilcox Happenings!
Jacob and Renee were baptized together last December 21st. It was a fun day and especially exciting for Jacob as he talked about being baptized for a long time, he was 10.
Cara graduated this year and we had a big luau celebration for her and 2 of her friends who graduated. We had lots of people come and enjoyed good entertainment and food. Cara and Kim even did a hula together, it has to be really special for that to happen!

Cara graduated with a class of 60. Kim asked a Federal Judge in our ward to be the keynote speaker. He's an amazing speaker and impressed and motivated everyone there on the importance of making good choices. It was a
very nice ceremony.

We went dip netting last week on the Kenai River. This was a first for us on the Kenai and we're pretty much addicted. We got 65 fish in 2 days. It was an amazing sight and experience to see all those Alaskans doing there thing! David and Erik went back for a day last Friday and used their prior experience to really haul in the fish. They got up to 4 fish in the net in one scoop and 3 1/2 hours got 44 fish. These are beautiful red salmon. My nephew happened to be up fishing with his father-in-law who is a photographer. I told them they needed to come check out the dip netting. He took lots of pictures. This is real Alaska!

Father's Day

Congrats to Gabe and Melissa on beautiful baby Mara! What a cute family.
We are excited to see Cara and Kim in August, when Cara goes out to BYU. We sure miss seeing that part of the family. Amanda will probably be living in Provo for the summer/school year and working at Stonehaven dental in Lehi, and not going back to Iowa. We will like her being closer to us.
We are also excited to hear where Sam will go on his mission! Any news on that yet??
We went to Yellowstone last week for two nights. It was a little rainy, but beautiful. I will try and post a few pictures. There were lots of baby bison, big bison and elk. We also stopped at Bear World around Rexburg which was fun, and saw the Rexburg temple too. So pretty.
We had a great visit in St. George with G&P a few weeks ago, and will go down again at the end of the month for soccer camp. Our kids love to visit the St. George cousins, and they are always so nice to let our kids hang out over there! Papa taught Amanda how to chop wood, and she got through a knotty stump while we were there.
Kaitlyn is glad track is over for a little while, so she can rest her sore muscles. She had a successful State meet, getting first in two events, a second and a third. Whitney and Cael were in a community track program recently with Amanda as a coach, and they enjoyed that. Whitney is still in the "running" for State, and we hope she does well. Cael wasn't old enough for that kind of competition.
Kaitlyn and Whitney are getting ready for girl's camp this week. Amanda will go as an assistant camp director. What a neat thing for them to do together. Hopefuly, it will be a good memory for them all.
Gene is doing lots of Driver's Ed this summer between camps. Never a shortage of kids wanting to drive!
It would be nice to hear from you all - maybe e-mail? Have a great summer.
